Description: "Women and Politics"

At a time when we can’t turn on the television or listen to the radio without hearing the latest update on the political campaigns, debates, issues, scandal, etc., we have the privilege of hearing from the former mayor of Frisco who recently made a run for U.S. Congress. As women – executive women – how can we participate and influence our lives through the political process? Please come join us as we hear Kathy Seei’s story and perspective.

Speaker: Kathy Seei
Former Mayor of Frisco
Vice President of Corporate Development, AECOM

Background:

Kathy Seei is best known for serving as Mayor of the City of Frisco when the population exploded by 300% in six years (1996-2002). She has served as President of the Metroplex Mayor's Association, co-chair of TEX-21 a statewide coalition for transportation improvement and the Center on Development Excellence for the North Central Texas Council of Government. She is the past president and current board member of the Arts of Collin County Foundation. She sits on the advisory board for South Collin County Habitat for Humanity, Cross Timber Youth Orchestra and Frisco Multifaith. Kathy is a member of the Staff Parish Relations Committee for her church of 21 years, Frisco First UMC.

Kathy founded SEEI3, which creates serious games that transfer core knowledge, build consensus and move future plans off the shelf and into action, in 2002. In July 1007 AECOM, the largest engineering design firm in the world, recruited Kathy to be Vice President of Corporate Development for North Texas. Her responsibilities include developing the forward strategic focus for TCB, the company's Texas subsidiary.

Kathy lives in Frisco, Texas with her husband of 37 years, Bob, a retired Plano ISD High School principal. They have two adult children: Erin who is in the insurance industry and Rob a medic with the Army's Special Operations Forces and currently serving in Iraq. Rob and his wife Shea are expecting Kathy's first grandchild this summer.

Kathy just completed a run for the U.S. House of Representatives in Texas Congressional District 4. District 4 includes 16 counties in Northeast Texas. Kathy sums up her varied interest by saying, "I am blessed with a busy life full of good endeavors!"
